AN UPDATE ON TREND MICRO
As of January 2010
McMaster’s new preferred campus antivirus program is TrendMicro.
Since only active employees working on McMaster owned computers are
eligible to download the free TrendMicro OfficeScan, the University
computer system has been set up to block retirees from downloading this
free software.
Retirees working on
or off campus on McMaster owned computers are eligible to download free
TrendMicro to those computers. To accomplish the software download,
University Technology Services (UTS) suggests a) that a support person
in the retiree’s department do the download on campus, or b) that the
retiree contact the UTS Service Desk (uts@mcmaster.ca) to arrange for a
free download. Proof of the computer being a McMaster asset, such as a
letter from the retiree’s department chair, will be requested.
TrendMicro can be
purchased for personal use for an annual fee of $10 from “MacMicro -
Titles Bookstore”; Phone (905) 525-9140 x24417
