Retirees and Friends of MURA, this notice for an activity that will suit experienced curlers and those with some basic hands-on knowledge is from Laurie Gunderman, a fellow Mac retiree.
The Dundas Granite Curling Club would like to offer MURA members and friends an opportunity to create a curling league for next season, with a 4 week “sampler session” this March and April. Novice and experienced curlers are welcome.
This mixed recreational league (women and men) will run on Thursday afternoons from 1:00 – 3:00 pm, followed by a social time in the club lounge. Cost will be $12 per person, per game, payable in advance upon registration in order to ensure member commitment. The full curling season is mid-October to mid-April, with “Snowbirds” given the opportunity to sign up only until Christmas. Registration is limited to 32 curlers. Additional participants will be placed on a waiting list.
Interested MURA members and friends are invited to take part in an Open House at the Dundas Granite Curling Club on Thursday, February 15, 2018. Drop in anytime between 1:00 – 3:00 pm. You will be able to view the facility, go out onto the ice to throw some rocks, use the lounge and register for the 4 week sampler session which will run in March and April. Club members will be available for assistance.
If you are interested in participating or would like further information, please contact Laurie Gunderman via emailemail.
Please wear comfortable and warm clothing, dressing in layers and bring flat shoes with clean treads (running shoes are ideal). Don't forget a hat and mittens or gloves. The club will provide brooms, and ice grippers for the bottom of your shoes for those that do not have their own curling equipment.
The Dundas Granite Curling Club is located at 24 Head Street, Dundas.
