Want to Sail this Summer?

March 28, 2019 11:08 AM | Anonymous

What better way to spend the summer near or on the water in beautiful LaSalle Park putting smiles on the faces of sailors who live with a range of disabilities?

Burlington Able Sail provides sailing and sail training opportunities to people living with a wide variety of disabilities, in an accessible environment using safe, purpose-built equipment and boats.

We have approximately 75 clients from all over the Golden Horseshoe and are actively looking for volunteers to assist, usually for a four hour period between 9 and 5 weekdays, late June through August.

Depending on preferences and abilities, we need people to work with paid staff to welcome clients, to coordinate dock activities, to help transfers from wheelchairs into boats, to act as companion sailors and to drive or observe on coach/safety boats. No experience necessary. Training provided.

We also are looking for 2 additional youth employees (grandchildren, etc), preferably with sailing or boating experience, 15 years and older, and are looking for additional clients, individuals living with disabilities who are interested in getting out on the water.
