MURA Walks the Welland Canal

  • August 14, 2023
  • 10:30 AM
  • Lock 3 Welland Canal Museum and lookout

For directions be sure to put in as your starting point:
St. Catharines Museum & Welland Canals Centre
1932 Welland Canals Parkway, St. Catharines, ON L2R 7K6

We’ll walk along the Welland Canal. Gathering at 10:30 at the Lock 3 Welland Canal Museum and lookout – we can walk in several directions.

This is an easy, level, paved walking path and you can walk as far or as little as you please. It is in full sun so be sure to bring a hat!

For those who are keen walkers - you can begin at Lock 3 and walk to Port Weller which is 7.6 km and 1.5 hours 1 way!
OR walk in the other direction and go to Lock 4 or 5 which is approx 2.5k or a 32 minute walk each way. Of course you can stop anywhere along the way and turn back.

If you choose to stay for lunch, I would recommend George’s Greek Village. There’s a beautiful patio overlooking the canal with a great photo op if a ship happens to slip on by! It is an easy 1.2 km or 15 minute walk each way.

If you are thinking of coming, it is helpful to let me know. Please text me at 905-906-5604. But if you decide to come at the very last minute, that is fine too!

It is about a 1 hour drive from Hamilton Centre. Hope to see you on the 14th.
